Headland rocks at Black Rock Sands beach near the Welsh village of Morfa Bychan, Gwynedd

Black Rock Sands

Black Rock Sands

Porthmadog has several beaches nearby but Black Rock Sands is by far the largest and most beautiful with breath-taking views over the Snowdonia National Park mountains. It has two miles of vast dunes and an expanse of soft, golden sand. There is a river to the east and many water sport lovers come here to enjoy their favourite sports and activities.

There are no facilities on the beach but the village of Morfa Bychan lies a few hundred metres away and you can find plenty of shops and places to eat there. Vehicles can park right on the beach, which can be very convenient for picnics and for those with disabilities.
