Polzeath is close by and has a completely different feel, with a broad surf beach, cafés and a livelier summer atmosphere. Trebetherick sits between Rock, Daymer Bay and Polzeath, making it a good area to know if you want to stay close to several beaches. Wadebridge is inland along the Camel Estuary and is practical for shops, bike hire, cafés and access to the Camel Trail.

Greenaway Beach and Brea Beach add quieter shoreline options between Rock and Polzeath, especially for walks and rock pooling.

Sailing and water-sports are a big part of Rock’s appeal, with the Camel Estuary offering sheltered water for boating, paddle-boarding and kayaking when conditions suit. The passenger ferry to Padstow is also part of the local rhythm, making it easy to cross for food, harbour time or a change of scene. It is worth checking ferry times before planning your day.

The walk from Rock towards Daymer Bay and Polzeath is one of the best ways to enjoy this stretch of coast. St Enodoc Church, partly hidden among the dunes, is a well-known local landmark and is linked with poet John Betjeman. Golf is another major draw, with St Enodoc Golf Club close by, while the Camel Trail at Wadebridge gives you an easy cycling option away from the beach.
