Westward Ho

Westward Ho is a classic blue flag beach near Appledore with sand that stretches for two miles. It has a broad gentle shelf for safe bathing, loads of space to play games, rock pools for the explorers at the far end and a long traditional promenade where you can find ice-cream parlors, cafes, restaurants and all the classic English resort trappings. All the water sports are popular here, especially surfing with plenty of clubs and hire shops for visitors plus a top selection of Westward Ho beach apartments to rent.

RNLI lifeguards operate between May and September, there are two main car parks behind the beach and toilets can be found at various points along the beach (some that include showers). There are disabled facilities including parking and toilets and dogs are not allowed on the main beach between the 1st of May and the 30th of September, although there is an exercise area at the Northam Burrows end of the beach all year round.
